The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the selection for Pakistan’s 16-man squad for the ‘Independence Cup’. Sarfraz Ahmed, will be leading the way as captain for the T20 series against the World XI, which is set to commence in a just a few short weeks.

The selected squad includes a few revisions to the prior teams line-up. With the exclusion of Wahab Riaz, Azar Ali, Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal.

It appears like the young bloods have made an impression on the selection committee this season. With the youthful editions of Faheem Ashraf, Umar Amin and Aamer Yamin for their notable performance in the domestic circuit. Fast bowler Sohail Khan also gets the nod after being declared fully fit.

It merits mention, that our hearts remain heavy with regards to the unfortunate events of 2009. Yet, with the tireless efforts of the PCB, local government bodies and the ICC, the World XI tour is a well awaited milestone. Particularly for a nation that lives and breathes for the game, finally, cricket comes home. Come on Pakistan!
