Five Minutes with Nasir Khan

A true representative of Pakistan’s new age Cinema, Nasir Khan is one of the most complete directors we have in Pakistan today. His unique and compelling body of work spans of over 15 years, during which time he has made several award winning features, documentaries and TV shows. His first commercial feature length film Bachaana, was a smash hit at the box office last year and the film industry and his fans now eagerly await his next.

Let’s find out what he’s been up to…

1. If you could change one thing about the Pak cinema industry, what would that be?

It’s far more about hope then change for me. I hope that in the near future we can produce enough quality Pakistani films that local cinemas don’t have to rely on foreign content. It would be fantastic that a new Pakistani film comes out every week and it is also the preferred choice for local audiences.

2. Who’s your favourite director?

Bilal Lashari

3. Your all time favourite Pakistani film?

Khuda Kaye Liye

4.  Any tips for young aspiring film makers?

Be patient and work on your script. It takes a long time for the first film to happen, so spend that waiting period working on your script. Write, rewrite, write, rewrite.

5. What are you currently working on?

I’m always working on a film script and the current one is just about done.
