Things To Do in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad This Week

A week jam-packed with art, music and lots of fun, topped off with a great cup of chai! Here’s your lowdown on 15 cool things to check out this week across Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.


Tuesday 3rd October 2017


1) Nadia Khawaja ‘I Play Along’ at Canvas Gallery (Karachi)

Nadia Khawaja in continuity with her explorations in drawing and other media uses geometric shapes in vivid colour to bring together surfaces some of which are heroically large in scale. These are playful and free-spirited works, which reveal an interest in questions of identity, nature, personal and universal, order and chaos, music and movement.

Alumni of the prestigious National College of Arts, Lahore, Nadia works with a wide range of mediums including drawing, photography, video and painting. Her work has been shown in various group and solo shows nationally and internationally.

The show remains open daily until October 12th, 2017 from 11 am to 8 pm (excluding Sunday)

2) Free Zumba Class with Sarah Mohammed by Karachi Ladies Club (Karachi)

A little Zumba is the best way to start any morning (if not every morning!) and the fab team at the Karachi Ladies Club have set up an hour-long Zumba class with Pro Zumba Instructor Sarah Mohammed this Tuesday, the first session is absolutely free! So, go grab a girlfriend and have a little mid-week fun.

3) Lahore International Model United Nations 2017 by Youth General Assembly (Lahore)

This is a pretty solid crew of professional bodies and private practitioners getting together to discuss massive change in Pakistan. They’ll be exploring time critical societal themes related to; Cultural Diversity, Multicultural Cities for Sustainable Development, Creating a Cultural Identity, preservation of Tangible & Intangible Cultural Heritage and role of Media in Promoting Culture for Nationalism (yup!) this is serious. But seriously interesting.

With many international speakers in attendance and ready to share their learnings. If you’re passionate about innovation, change and want to know how it’s done. Check this out.

4) Insta Loves II by Satrang Art Gallery (Islamabad)

Satrang Gallery is dedicated to supporting and promoting Pakistani arts and artisans, particularly young contemporary artists. Led by Asma Khan and team, this Wednesday they exhibit the works of Abdullah Qureshi, titled  ‘Insta Loves II’.

5) Book Launch: This House of Clay and Water at The Last Word (Lahore)

The Last Word is excited to host Faiqa Mansab in conversation with Laaleen Sukhera where Faiqa will discuss her new book, This House of Clay and Water. Mansab’s accomplished and dazzling debut novel explores the themes of love, betrayal and loss in the complex, changing world of today’s Pakistan.

6) Rivayat presents Fareed Ayaz Abu Muhammad Qawwal Live by Rivayat Music Series (Karachi)

Rivayat Music Series presents their first music performance in the series featuring the world-renowned ‘Fareed Ayaz Abu Muhammad Qawal’ from Qawal Bachay Gharana of Delhi. What we bet you didn’t know is, that these guys have been featured on Coke Studio Pakistan twice, have sung a song for Mira Nair’s critically acclaimed movie, The Reluctant Fundamentalist and has been performing live for more than four decades.

Passes will be distributed on first come, first serve basis. Limited seats, so hurry up and get yourself registered!

7) Launch: True Brew TV at The Last Word (Lahore)

What do you know about True Brew Records? Well here’s your chance to find out more. You can always count on the super cool team at The Last Word in Lahore to be in-the know on the latest happenings in town and this event is no exception. Learn all about True Brew Records and their exciting new video music streaming channel. With the head of True Brew Records, Jamal Rahman front and center and the likes of Ali Hamza, Jimmy Khan and Haroon Shahid in the house, this isn’t a night to be missed!

8) MUSHK! (Lahore)

Starring Sania Saeed and Nimra Bucha, OLOMOPOLO Media presents Mushk! A thrilling piece of Urdu theatre with a plot brimming with secrets, love, lies and so much more. We can’t wait to watch this performance.

9) ‘Chikachino’ Café Launch by Rezz PR and Events (Islamabad)

The real chai experience hits Islamabad with the launch of a homegrown café called ‘Chickachino’. They specialize in teas and desi street snacks.  We’re feeling quite peckish, Chikachino’s anyone?

 10) Meri Dunya Ke Rang by NOWPDP (Karachi)

A beautiful initiative by NOWPDP, ‘Meri Dunya Ke Rang’ is an original art exhibition to showcase the expression of emotion by children with disabilities and promote art as a medium of therapy. The exhibition will take place at Sanat Gallery on 7th October 2017, from 11 am to 8 pm and all proceeds raised will be used to fund art therapy for children with disabilities.

 11) Lulusar Concept Exhibit at The Deli (Karachi)

If you haven’t checked out Lulusar online yet, you may just want to reevaluate your relationship status with your ‘bestie’! We’re diggin Lulusar’s urban vibe, clean colour palette and no fuss cuts.  We partially love their selection of superfly flairs and culottes… It’s time to say buh-bye to those skinnies ladies and check out there exhibit this weekend at The Deli!

12) Just what the Doctor ordered! Comic Conference 12 at Alhamra by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Comedy PTC (Lahore)

Fancy a good ol’ laugh this weekend? Then the 12th edition of DRAMA ED’s COMIC CONFERENCE “Mazahyia Ijlaas” is the place to be. You’re in for a massive treat with an evening packed with sketch, stand-up and improv comedy that’ll have you rolling on the floor with laughter!

 13) Miran Jani Trekking day tour by Adventure Being (Islamabad)

Miranjani is the highest peak of galeyaat at 2,992 meters (9,816 ft) elevation in the Abbottabad District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Located in the Namli Maira area in Ayubia National Park, 80 kilometres north of Islamabad in the western Himalayan range. An easy 3-hour trek to the top of the hill will reveal one of the most magnificent views you’ve ever laid eyes on.

14) Collector’s Weekend 2 by My Art World and Studio 8 (Islamabad)
