1. LEARN: Startup Grind with Salim Ghauri by Startup Grind Lahore and Startup Grind Pakistan

Overview: Startup Grind is the largest independent startup community in the world. Check out Salim Ghauri’s talk and learn how he became one of the most iconic IT leaders in Pakistan. For those of you who don’t know, he is the founder and the visionary force behind NETSOL Technologies Limited, overseeing NETSOL’s operations in the Asia Pacific region.

2. WATCH: Lights Camera Action’17 by Lights Camera Action ’17

Overview: LCA is LACAS JT Boy’s flagship event designed to provide students a platform to showcase their filmmaking abilities. LCA is a competition in which students compete with their films to make it to the top. This year, the fifth edition of LCA is part of ‘Urain ge’ and Ali Hamza will be performing!

3. WATCH: Ajoka’s Play “Lo Phir Basant Ayee” by Ajoka Theatre Pakistan

Overview: Lo Phir Basant Aee is Ajoka’s popular play on the issue of talibanization. It is the story of a kite-maker family, rendered jobless due to of the ban on Basant. The play is a delightful satire which entertains the audience through music and humour but also raises series issues faced by the society.

4. LEARN: Creative Writing Workshop by Sonya Rehman by Sonya Rehman and British Council Pakistan

Calling all writers! Whether you’re a rookie or a writer looking to polish their skills, this 3-day Creative Writing workshop is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Conducted by writer Sonya Rehman, who is a contributor to Austenistan, a Jane Austen-inspired work of Pakistani fiction coming to print this year. This workshop will help you understand different styles, characterisation, setting and scene, and will eventually equip you to independently build your story from beginning to end.

1. EXPLORE: Full Circle Gallery Presents Alienation 

Overview:  Young fresh super talented artists showcase there latest works at Full Circle this week. One of our resident contributors Anum Lasharie is showcasing her work amongst many of her talents peers! Annem Zaidi, Babar Moghal, Manizhe Ali, Mehdi Rizvi, Scheherezade Junejo and Shiraz Malik are also part of the show and we can’t wait to see what we’re in store for!

4. WATCH: Avaaz – ‘Kings Without Thrones’ & Baap’ Film Screenings by The Second Floor (T2F)

Overview: Pop into T2F this Friday and enjoy two back-to-back short film screening focusing on minority populations in Pakistan followed by an intimate Q&A session with the Directors themselves.

1) Kings Without Thrones: an insight into Pakistan’s marginalized African population
About the Director: Alice Peter is a Media Sciences graduate from SZABIST University who completed her thesis on the marginalisation of Pakistan’s Sheedi (Afro-Pakistani) community this year. Currently, she works at SAMAA News as a Videographer and Content Writer.

2) Baap: Torn between two forces, a man struggles to find himself
About the Director: Jehanzeb Raza is a Film and Television production major from SZABIST university. His field of expertise is art direction and he focuses extensively on the communication between characters and their environment.

4.  WATCH: Baanjh By Maas Foundation & Aks Theatre 

Overview: Baanjh is story of an unfertile, unfruitful land named Siachen. In Siachen alot of Indian and Pakistani soldiers had died yet the war is going on. There is a big Question in the play that why this war is going on if still this land is unfertile? Play is written & directed by Afzaal Nabi.
